VOLUNTEER GUIDE
NOMA KC is very excited to bring the Project Pipeline Architecture and Design Justice Camp to Kansas City this summer. Our Pipeline program committee has worked to bring a quality experience to the students in our community but we are relying on the support of volunteer mentors to help bring this program to fruition. If you would like to join us this summer please look over the position descriptions and let us know what works best for you!

01 design mentor
description
+ Design mentors are volunteers from within the design profession.
+ Mentors will be asked to lead a team of 5 students providing design and personal support for the group and students within the group.
role
+ Helping students work through the "Process" to design and build creative personal and communal projects.
+ Assembling any support material before each session
+ Facilitating and implementing the design initiatives within each breakout session
time
+ Design mentors will be asked to participate in all activities on each day of the camp, plus necessary pre-camp preparation time. All mentors will be asked to attend a camp training session to discuss camp curriculum and responsibilities prior to participation

camp mentor

+ Camp Mentors are volunteers with a desire to educate students and an interest in design and architecture. All professions welcome!
+All Camp Mentors will be partnered with a design mentor and a team of five students.
role
+ Supervising students in breakout sessions and site visits
+ Distributing all learning and construction materials for each breakout session
+ Helping students work through the "Process" to design and build creative personal and communal projects.
time
+ Camp mentors with limited availability will be asked to choose a morning or afternoon time slot during any day of the camp. Mentors may choose as many or as few time slots as your availability allows.
+ All mentors will be asked to attend a camp training session to discuss camp curriculum and responsibilities prior to participation.
+ NOMA will cover the cost of a required background check.

camp support
role
+ Camp Mentors acting in a support role are volunteers with a desire to educate students and an interest in design and architecture. All professions welcome!
+ Support Mentors will be asked to help team leaders conduct core programming, document activities, and prepare for subsequent activities

+ Set up and breakdown for each day of camp
+ Registration and sign in for each day of camp.
+ Preparing space and presentation setup before each breakout session
+ Distributing materials and lunches to students remotely
(KCMO/KCK metro area)
+ Photo documentation of assigned team
time
+ Camp mentors with limited availability will be asked to choose a 2 hour
time slots during any day of the camp.
+ Mentors may choose as many or as few time slots as your availability
allows.
+ All mentors will be asked to attend a camp training session to discuss camp curriculum and responsibilities prior to participation
